Academic regalia is the traditional dress of mortarboard/tam (cap) and gown for degree candidates participating in the Commencement ceremonies. You can view the current official licensed UT Tyler Commencement regalia that is required to participate in the Commencement ceremonies.

Master’s and Bachelor’s degree regalia can be purchased, and Doctoral degree regalia can be rented, either at the UT Tyler Campus Bookstore or online here. The priority deadline for ordering regalia online is Monday, November 18th, 2024. Late orders will be accepted until Friday, November 29th, 2024, but may incur additional fees for expedited shipping and processing. 

Doctoral candidates who wish to purchase regalia should place their orders online here. Since these are custom orders, the deadline for purchasing doctoral regalia is Thursday, October 31st, 2024.

These ceremonies will be indoors and there will be quite a bit of walking. Please dress appropriately for this formal event and wear appropriate footwear.

There will be no storage area for your belongings, please bring only what you can carry on your person. The UT Tyler staff and faculty will not take possession of or be responsible for any of your belongings.

Guest Ticketing

You will reserve these within the Commencement Registration through MarchingOrder.

• If a guest, including children and infants, does not have a ticket they will NOT be allowed to enter the event.
• Round 1:
  • Opens: Wednesday, October 30th at 10:00am CST
  • Closes: Monday, November 11th at 11:59pm CST
    • Any unreserved tickets will be evenly allotted to the students that had already reserved their tickets for the Round 2 ticketing.
• Round 2:
  • Opens: Wednesday, November 13th at 10:00am CST
  • Closes: Monday, November 25th at 11:59pm CST
    • Any unreserved tickets will be available to be reserved for the Round 3 ticketing on a first come first serve basis until all tickets are reserved.
• Round 3:
  • Opens: Monday, December 2nd at 10:00am CST
  • Closes: Saturday, December 14th at 2:00pm CST

It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure all ticketing information is relayed to their guests.

Friends and family members unable to attend, are welcome to view the live streaming broadcast of the ceremony from the UTTyler Youtube Channel.

GradPass

You will access this within the Commencement Registration through MarchingOrder.

• Your GradPass will be released to you on your MarchingOrder portal by Wednesday, November 13th at 10:00am CST.
• We will utilize the QR Code on your GradPass to check you in at the Student Check-In
  • You can provide this either on a smart phone or print it out.

Two rehearsals will be held on Tuesday, December 10th. Rehearsal is optional and students are not required to attend rehearsal to participate in the commencement ceremony. Rehearsals are not specific to a particular ceremony, degree, college, or school. Therefore, students can choose which rehearsal they would like to attend form the options below: 

• 9:00am CST
  • Morning Rehearsal
• 1:00pm CST
  • Afternoon Rehearsal

Parking lots will open 1.5 hours prior to the ceremony start time and will be available for guests and students on a first come first serve basis.

The students will proceed through two stations on the way to lineup:

• Check-In
  • GradPass Verification
  • Obtain your name card
  • Fall 2024 undergraduates who achieve Latin honors status, per Spring/Summer 2024 credit hours and GPA will be able to pick up their honor cords.
• Pre-Ceremony Photography
  • Photos are taken of each candidate before line-up and as they cross the stage. Purchase is not necessary. To view, proof, and purchase photos, students may contact Flash Photography.
• Students will then proceed to the lineup areas, where UT Tyler faculty marshals and staff can assist you.
